As a professional stamping tool/die manufacturer, we would like to share the common faults and solutions of automotive stamping dies during the production process.

Faults 1. Deformation of flange & restrike parts

In the process of flange and restrike, the deformation of the work piece often occurs. If it is in the production of non-surface parts, it will generally not have a great impact on the quality of the work piece, but if it is in the surface parts, As long as there is a little deformation, it will bring great quality defects to the appearance and affect the quality of the whole vehicle.

why:

①Due to the deformation and flow of the sheet metal during the forming and flange process of the work piece, deformation will occur if the pressing material is not tight;

②When the pressing force is large enough, if the pressing surface of the pressing material is uneven and there are clearances in some parts, the above situation will also occur.

How:

①Increase the pressing force. If it is a spring pressing material, the method of adding a spring can be used. For the upper air cushion pressing material, the method of increasing the air cushion force is usually used;

②If there is still local deformation after increasing the pressure, you can use red lead to find out the specific problem point, and check whether there are local depressions on the binder surface. At this time, you can use the method of welding the binder plate;

③After the binder plate is welded, it is researched and matched with the lower surface of the mold.

Faults 2. Trimming steel chipped

Trimming steel chipped caused by various reasons during the use of the mold will have a certain impact on the quality of the work piece. It is one of the most common repair contents in mold repair. The steps of repairing the Trimming steel are as follows:

①Use the corresponding welding rod for welding. Before surfacing, the reference plane for repair must be selected, including the clearance surface and non-clearance surface;

②Mark the line against the transition piece. If there is no transition piece, the clearance surface can be roughly ground with the benchmark left in advance;

③The clearance surface can be repaired on the machine table, and clay can be used for auxiliary research and matching. Be careful during the repair process, try to start the press as slowly as possible, and adjust the height of the mold to open downwards if necessary, so as to avoid damage to the Trimming steel;

④Detect whether the clearance surface of the Trimming steel edge is consistent with the shearing direction.
